I make every effort that when I find something very well written or very well stated, then I copy it to help give me ideas, a swipe file if you wish. I also attempt to always include where I got the article from so that if I choose to share it with someone, I will know who to give credit to so as to not infringe on any copy write.
However, in this case I messed up and did not include where I got this from. So if anyone knows who wrote this, please let me know so that I can give him/her credit.
Since I like what is said I am going to share it with you even I don’t know who wrote it. My guess is that Bob Proctor wrote it and that is just a guess.
PS: Did you remember to “Register” for my Blog? It’s over to the left under “
“I know I’m young. I’m doing very well for my age, but I have to pay my dues, and I have a lot to learn before I can reach my goal. I think it’s realistic that I can become a millionaire by the time I’m 30. Don’t you?”
What I found interesting was that he told me this story almost every time I talked to him. It was what he was willing to accept, a story about what was possible. I sensed the explanation made him feel safe.
One day I pointed this out to him and suggested that he approached his goal from a different point of view. “Give up needing to figure out exactly how this will happen. You have a strong intent based on what you want; project that out into the world and allow solutions beyond what you know to present themselves to you.”
A few weeks later John was at a seminar and met another young man who was also 24 years-old. After they got to know each other John discovered that his new friend had made several million dollars in the past year marketing on the Internet!
When John gave up the story about what he could and could not do, it didn’t take long
before he encountered a mentor who showed him that it was absolutely possible to far
exceed his goals and dreams, not someday – maybe, but right now.
Reality is what you pour your energy and faith into.
If you collect evidence, argue, and defend these points of view then you’re right – this is
“how it is”.
If you have beliefs that are based on old fears, old hurts, or old stories
that have no relevance to the present moment, you don’t need to “fix” them.
They will collapse the minute you stop feeding them!
Become accountable for the beliefs that hold you back and embrace responsibility for
what you can change. Embracing responsibility for what you can change is an act of
power – a choice that can transform your life INSTANTLY!
Question: Isn’t taking responsibility mean that you are to blame?
Blame and shame are a fear-based way of looking at things. Try another way. Look at
the word “responsibility” from a place of gratitude and joy. Love your response-ability.
You have the awesome ability to decide what is true about what happens to you and
around you in every moment. Be accountable for what you have interpreted as “true” and
you will find the key to your own personal power.
Question: What about positive affirmations? Are positive affirmations enough to make the changes I desire?
I wish they were, but they’re not. Remember, I said that thinking doesn’t drive belief,
belief drives thinking. Until you discover the places you have been unconsciously
investing your faith, practicing positive affirmations will be an empty gesture.
Question: If you’re using just affirmations by themselves, it can be delusional. Is that what you saying?
I think the correct word is illusion. Investing yourself in the discovery of what you truly
believe, with honesty and courage will pay big dividends. Positive affirmations by
themselves, without the belief work, are a shortcut that may lead you nowhere.
90% of the process of changing old beliefs is cultivating awareness, so
that you can distinguish the difference between what you’d like to believe,
what you think you should believe, and what you truly believe. It’s ninety
percent of the process!
There are lots of ways of unearthing your money beliefs. I’ll give you a few right now to
work on as you read this special report.
One way is to examine how you feel about certain words.
Every word in every language is nothing more than an agreement. If I say, “Pick up the
cat,” you understand what I have said only because we agree on the meaning of the
sounds. But the whole meaning is not simply an idea we agree upon. Frequently there is
an emotion that stirs when you hear the words. The emotion that comes up is personal.
In this case, it depends on whether you like cats or dislike cats. What you feel may not be
exactly what someone else feels when they hear the words, because the emotion that is
sparked is a direct product of your experience, and your interpretation about your
experience.
Take a moment. Examine these words:
· wealthy
· money
· rich
· prosperity
· abundance
· freedom
Now, put each one in a sentence that has something to do with you.
Maybe your first statement is: I will never be wealthy.
Be honest. What is your initial reaction to that statement? What emotion comes up
for you? What’s the first thought you had when you said that to yourself?
Write it down here: ___________________________________________________________
___________________________________________________________________________
I’ve used this exercise with many of my clients. One woman told me the first thing she
thought of was: I’ll never make it. And that thought invoked a feeling of despair.
Now, create a phrase that is sounds positive with respect to money. Try on this one: I
have everything I need. I am rich in every aspect of my life.
Do the same thing again. What is your gut reaction to that statement? What emotion
comes up for you? What’s the first thought you had when you said that to yourself?
Write it down here: ___________________________________________________________
___________________________________________________________________________
I will bet that you noticed a big difference between how you felt after saying to yourself:
“I will never be wealthy.” and, “I have everything I need. I am rich in every aspect of my
life.” You see, every story, every thought pattern evokes feelings. And, every belief has an
emotional point of view.
Examine each of these words: rich, wealthy, abundance, prosperity,
money, freedom. Create a phrase, both positive and negative, using the list.
Write down what you notice.
After you do that, you will begin to get a clear picture of your beliefs and
agreements on the subject of creating and attracting wealth! Do you realize
how valuable that is?
For thousands of years we have lived with the belief that there’s not enough to go
around, and we have to fight and compete for what we need. “Not enough” is a belief
based in scarcity that feeds a poverty mentality – poverty of spirit, poverty of emotional
fulfillment, and a chronic poverty of basic resources. Today, we were able to do so much
more with so much less. The standard of living all over the world has risen so dramatically
that millions of people now live with luxuries the Kings and
could only dream of.
It is possible for everyone everywhere to meet or surpass their needs and live a
reasonably healthy and happy life. This includes you.
Money is just energy, and energy is the stuff of LIFE. If the flow of life is blocked
because of your personal agreements, opinions, attitudes and beliefs, then you’re not
experiencing life to the fullest. And, you’re not contributing all the value you could to the
well-being of the planet no matter how much money you have, or don’t have.
You can live a life of integrity consistent with your deepest core values, no matter how
much money you have.
Remember, what’s powerful about money to each of us is what we have decided to
believe about it. Our interpretations, judgments and beliefs are either open, expansive,
and positive; or based in fear — constrictive and limiting. If our interpretations are tainted
with the fear of scarcity they will block the flow of wealth, the overflowing well of LIFE.
It’s as simple as that.
Question: How can I begin to build empowering beliefs about money and
attract wealth and richness into my life?
Don’t rush to the finish line—smash those old beliefs! Start from the beginning. What
do you believe about money? It’s worth taking the time to consider this question very
carefully.
Here’s another exercise to help you gain some awareness about your prosperity beliefs.
EXERCISE: For a few days carry an alarm with you—there is
probably one on your watch, cell phone, or PDA. Set it to go off
every 20 minutes for a few hours. When the alarm sounds,
notice what your mind is engaged in. Is there a particular
theme that is running through your personal narrative?
Once you notice a thread of thought, see if it is something that is propelling you
forward or holding you back. Most of the nonstop dialogue we have running in our minds
is not logical thinking or necessary thinking. It’s the voice of everything we believe.
Let’s say you discover a theme that sounds like worrying. You worry about everything.
And so you ask: What does that have to do with money?
What you believe touches every part of life. Your beliefs affect your relationships, your
work, your well-being, your health, where you live, what you’re able to do, and most
importantly how you see yourself in the world. Your beliefs about money are nothing
more than a metaphor for how you see, and do life. And so, your filter, the thread of
thought that runs through your mind, becomes the way you see and do money.
Now here is an important review of what you’ve learned so far…
Summary of Wealth Attraction Principles
I’ve introduced to you some new and powerful ideas and got you to think differently
about money, creating wealth, and inviting richness into your life.
Here is a summary of the wealth attraction principles:
1. Most of our so-called “beliefs” are merely opinions subject to change, especially
when we get stressed about things like money.
2. You can’t change what you believe just by changing your thinking. What drives
your behavior, and much of your thinking is everything you’ve agreed to believe.
3. Discovering and shifting any fear-based beliefs you have is the surest and
fastest way to bring your goals and dreams into reality.
4. Money is incredibly powerful in our lives, but only because of the way we interpret it.
5. Anything you believe today, including your opinions about wealth, are not hardwired or programmed into you. Every one of your beliefs exists because you agreed to that particular point of view. And, you are responsible for continuing to nurture that point of view. This is great news, because you have the power to make a different choice, right now.
6. Ninety percent of the process of changing belief is becoming aware of what you have agreed to believe. Once you completely understand it, and how it impacts your life, it’s not that hard to change it.
7. The way to “fix” any limiting belief is to take responsibility for supporting it and
begin to withdraw that support.
8. Money in its simplest form is just energy. When your desire (what drives you to take action) and your beliefs (what controls your actions) are aligned, it opens the flow of energy.
9. Begin to accept “what is”. You ARE wealthy! That is the natural state of things
regardless of your point of view. However, what is real to you now is what you believe. Changing any limiting beliefs you have about money is the surest pathway to personal and financial freedom.
One More Thing…
In the beginning of the report I suggested you print it out so you could participate in all
the exercises. Now that you have done that, take a moment to ponder these important
questions. Close your eyes, consider each question, and then jot down the first thing that
comes to you.
1. What obstacles are preventing you from fulfilling your financial goals?
2. What do you feel when you think of your current financial situation?
3. What is your ideal financial situation, what would your lifestyle be like, and how
would you feel?
4. Name three limiting beliefs about money that you would like to change.
